30 Jun Hope Celebrates the Class of 2021
Hope Partnership Middle School’s Class of 2021 graduated on June 9th. The smaller than usual, socially-distanced ceremony was a welcome turn toward the kind of celebration we’ve been anticipating for the past year and a half. The students were only able to invite two guests, but the guests, faculty, and staff of Hope more than made up for in enthusiasm what was lacking in volume.
Anna Yang, Hope’s music teacher, played a beautiful violin version of Pomp and Circumstance as the students processed. A welcome from Dr. DuPree and a prayer of blessing by Sister Rose were followed by three reflections offered by graduating students. Student awards included individual subject achievement, attendance, over-all achievement, and the principal’s award. The annual Spirit of Hope Award – which is given to someone who has served Hope Partnership in a significant way – was given to long-time committee member, board member, and board chair, Dr. Cheryl Horsey. The event culminated with the presentation of diplomas and students left the Hope room to the sound of Mendelssohn’s War March of the Priests.
Students will be attending Cristo Rey High School, Mercy Career and Technical High School, Bodine High School for International Affairs, Little Flower, Neumann-Goretti, and Tech Friere Charter School.
